For Halloween, I posted about mine and Emma's favorite Halloween movies here and here. Emma and I love a good movie. I love, love, love Christmas movies and so does she! One thing is for sure, MOST Christmas movies are family friendly.
The Christmas movies I tend to love are remnants of my childhood (and yours, too, I am sure!) and they have such a precious place in my heart. All these years later, these movies resonate deeply within most of us and they remain iconic to this day. Of course, I have a love for some more recent Christmas movies, so this is a nice, eclectic mix!
Here are our favorite Christmas movies in no particular order:
1. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
Can you believe this was made in 1964??? |
I am a sucker for the Island of Misfit Toys, the Abominable Snowman and the miner. I love this movie even to this day. I get so much enjoyment out of it!
Another throwback to my childhood that I just adore.
3. Elf
Santaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! I still laugh so hard when I watch this! Peter Dinklage was awesome! It's such a cute but fun movie!
4. It's a Wonderful Life
Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings! Need I say more?
A tradition for sure and also timeless. This woman made of ice starts to defrost when I watch these movies. Come New Year's, it's back to being the Ice Princess. Haha. Just kidding but seriously, this is a MUST see and appreciate! *sniff* Damn onions!
6. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
""Oh, the silent majesty of a winter's morn... the clean, cool chill of the holiday air... an a*shole in his bathrobe, emptying a chemical toilet into my sewer..." Ah. This movie NEVER gets old for me. Love the dysfunctional Griswolds. Poor Clark, he tries so hard. Haha
My friend, Ryan at Wordsmithonia, would post about Christmas in Connecticut being one of his favorite Christmas movies and I finally broke down last year and watched it. I understand why he raved about it and it's now on my list. Thanks, Ryan! Barbara Stanwyck was an amazing actress and this movie was amazing. I love it. You will, too, if you love a good classic movie!
One fine day, back in 2011-ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas was tuned in and on the screen pops Tim Allen in "The Santa Clause" and we watched it. Again and again and again. Lo and behold, I really, really, really love this film series!
9. Scrooged
Oh Bill. you are a silly man and this grotesque spin on A Christmas Carol is so good. I love it.
I love all versions of the Christmas Carol!
Another one that just doesn't get old for me! I don't care how many times TBS has this movie on repeat (I think it's all day on Christmas, IIRC?), I still die laughing. Especially over the bunny pajamas.
A Halloween/Christmas/Any Day delight!
13. White Christmas
14. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas
I, personally, enjoy BOTH versions!
15. Charlie Brown Christmas
In my opinion, no Chrismas is complete without a Charlie Brown Christmas. For the record, I love the tree.
16. Family Man
Sort of a cross between "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol", The Family Man is a sweet movie that does touch on a few cliches but I enjoy it.
Last but not least, my all time favorite Christmas movie is not a movie at all but a performance. An extremely special performance of The Nutcracker performed by a very special group of children in 2012. My daughter and her friends performed the Nutcracker at the Orpheum Theatre and it was spectacular. You should totally read about it here.
As usual, I go a bit overboard. Ha ha. I don't take my movies lightly!
Do you watch any of the ones I listed?
What are some of your favorite Christmas movies?
Pin it for later:
I haven't seen most of these. I think my husband and I are going to make a Redbox trip tonight so we can catch up. haha
ReplyDeleteHaha! You'll have to fill me in on which ones you saw and if you liked them! Are there any Christmas themed movies you like to watch?
DeleteAwesome list! I like these movies! My favorites are the Miracle on 34th Street, Elf, The Santa Clause. :)

Thanks!
DeleteThey are so good! I have to admit, I didn't think I would like the Santa Clause as much as I do!
I think White Christmas is my favorite, just a big fan of that movie. Also fond of Christmas Vacation, Rudolph and of course Charlie Brown Christmas. Wouldn't be the same without that one...
ReplyDeleteFamily Man was good too. Nice list.
It's such a great movie, though. White Christmas is one I have to watch, too!
DeleteI agree! Christmas wouldn't be the same without Charlie Brown!
Thank you!
Wow, it really is a long list! I love your choices but I haven't seen a few so I will be watching them! Great Post! :) x
ReplyDeleteHaha! Yeah, I have no self control. Definitely do! Let me know if you like them when you do!
DeleteI forgot about Frosty, oh no! I just did my list. Oh well. My mom has never stopped quoting that movie!
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hate it when that happens! LOL I have made lists and then realize I forgot one when I read somebody else's!
DeleteI love that your mom quotes it!
